Josep Clarà: Mediterranean Universe

The Castell de Vila-seca is hosting the exhibition Josep Clarà and the Mediterranean Universe, focusing on the figure of Josep Clarà i Ayats (Olot, 1878 – Barcelona, 1958). The exhibition opens a window onto the universe of one of the most internationally renowned Catalan artists of the first half of the 20th century.

The exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Vila-Casas Private Foundation, reveals to the visitor the production of an emblematic work, essentially Mediterranean. It provides an insight into the sculptor’s life and artistic career, and allows us to get to know the techniques, materials, determining factors and spaces involved in the production and reception of sculpture, taking us back to a period of splendour of this art, which is so closely linked to our
